Which sentence best summarizes the author's point of view about the Pemberley Museum?
A. Visiting the museum is a disappointing experience, especially when compared to its former glory.
B. Going to the museum is disappointing because it is too large to see everything in one day.
C. A trip to the museum is frustrating, and it is not worth the current price of admission.
I remember loving the Pemberley Museum as a kid, but my recent visit was very different. Multiple expansions over the years and the haphazard relocation of exhibits have left the museum terribly laid out. I spent half my visit wandering the halls trying to find the ocean exhibit, which the map indicated was on the fourth floor when it was actually located on the second. Updated signs and directions would be extremely helpful.
The museum used to be world class, but it feels pretty dingy these days. Several lights were out, making the fossils hard to see. In fact, the whole place has a run-down feel, with a lot of information out-of-date and most of the interactive elements broken.
Unfortunately, in a final display of the museum's age, the computerized kiosks to leave feedback weren't working! It's good that admission is free, because I wouldn't pay much to go to this museum.
The sentence best summarizes the author's point of view about the Pemberley Museum is a trip to the museum is frustrating, and it is not worth the current price of admission. Therefore, option C is correct.
What do you mean by the museum ?The term museum is defined as the building in which the objects of historical, cultural, artistic, and scientific interest are kept for the public display.

The phrase "weakening of British morale" suggests a decline in the spirits, motivation, or confidence of the British people, which could result from various factors such as military setbacks, shortages, or political tensions. The word "general" indicates that this decline was widespread, rather than isolated to a particular group or region.

Essentially, the concern was that Britain's struggles could cause a domino effect that would weaken the resolve of other nations fighting against the Axis powers, making it harder to win the war.

What form has this taken?Mermaids are frequently depicted as lovely, seductive beings that are linked to the sea and the perils that lurk there in many classic tales. Down and Dirty: Do Men and Women Perceive Cleanliness Differently?
© 2012 Gregory McNamee—December 5, 2012
Anyone who is fastidious about washing hands, avoiding grime, and keeping a neat immediate environment would probably want to keep a safe distance from my office, which is a chaos of slopped coffee, teetering piles of books and papers, dust, and assorted flotsam and jetsam.
I now have a defense for this studied disorder: namely, my chromosome count. In a study published in the online scientific journal PLoS ONE, researchers from San Diego State University and the University of Arizona examined 450 samples of bacteria taken from offices in New York City, San Francisco, and Tucson. These bacteria—and forgive the ickiness—came mostly from the skin, nose and mouth, and the digestive tract, and they were found mostly on chairs and telephones, with lower concentrations on computer keyboards and mice and on [physical] desktops.
The researchers' findings were various, but one of them was this: In the workspaces of men, the bacteria count was significantly higher than in those of women. The implications are immediately obvious: Men are, well, just not as tidy as women. Remarks an authority cited in the study, "Humans move through a sea of microbial life that is seldom perceived except in the context of potential disease and decay." If that is so, then men, it would appear, are enthusiastic body surfers while women barely dip their toes into the mess.
It is dangerous, always, to generalize on grounds of gender and sex. Yet there does appear to be significant variation between men and women in some categories of perception; reports a recent paper in the suggestively titled journal Biology of Sex Differences, women are superior to men in discriminating among fine distinctions of color, while males are better able to discern details in any given viewscape from a distance. This finding supports the so-called hunter-gatherer hypothesis, which proposes that certain biological adaptations occurred as a result of different divided-labor roles in human prehistory. Since men were better at spotting things from afar, they hunted, and since women were better at distinguishing colors, they chose which mushrooms to eat—they gathered, in other words, and apparently they developed the ability to discern dirt where men could not.
It seems to me, of course, that it is possible that those biological differences preceded the roles, that function followed form. But no matter: I'm busily scanning the horizon for gazelles, and therefore I can be forgiven for the chaos immediately before me.
Which line from the text presents an example of ethos?
A. A chaos of slopped coffee, teetering piles of books and papers, dust, and assorted flotsam
B. I now have a defense for this studied disorder: namely, my chromosome count
C. Humans move through a sea of microbial life that is seldom perceived
D. I'm busily scanning the horizon for gazelles, and therefore I can be forgiven
Answer:
B. "I now have a defense for this studied disorder: namely, my chromosome count" presents an example of ethos as it uses the author's credentials or expertise to establish credibility and persuade the reader.

In The Odyssey, Odysseus has shown us several times that he is very strategic and intelligent. What are the two strongest examples of these characteristics from The Odyssey? Why are these such strong examples? Provide evidence from the story to support your answer.
Answer:
The Trojan Horse and the blinding of Polyphemus are two of the strongest examples of Odysseus' strategic thinking in The Odyssey. These examples showcase Odysseus' creativity, intelligence, and bravery, and they have become iconic moments in Western literature.
Explanation:
The Trojan Horse: --- One of the most famous and celebrated examples of Odysseus' strategic thinking is the Trojan Horse. In this story, Odysseus and the Greek army were besieging the city of Troy, but the Trojans had proved to be very resilient and difficult to defeat. Odysseus then came up with a clever plan: he built a giant wooden horse, which was hollow inside, and hid some Greek soldiers inside it. The rest of the Greek army pretended to sail away, leaving the horse behind as a gift to the Trojans. The Trojans, thinking that the Greeks had given up and left, brought the horse inside the city walls as a trophy. However, at night, the Greek soldiers inside the horse came out and opened the gates of the city, allowing the rest of the Greek army to enter and conquer Troy. This is a strong example of Odysseus' strategic thinking because it shows that he was able to come up with a plan that was both innovative and unexpected. He was able to anticipate the Trojans' response to the horse, and he was able to use that response to his advantage. This plan ultimately led to the Greeks' victory in the Trojan War, and it has been celebrated as one of the greatest military tactics of all time.
The Blinding of Polyphemus --- Another strong example of Odysseus' strategic thinking is his blinding of Polyphemus, the Cyclops. In this story, Odysseus and his men were trapped inside Polyphemus' cave, and the giant Cyclops was devouring his crew one by one. Odysseus then came up with a plan to blind the Cyclops: he offered him some strong wine, and when Polyphemus was dru nk, Odysseus and his men drove a sharp stick into his eye, blinding him. They then escaped the cave by clinging to the bellies of the sheep that the Cyclops released in the morning. This is a strong example of Odysseus' strategic thinking because it shows that he was able to think on his feet and come up with a plan in a desperate situation. He was able to use his knowledge of the Cyclops' habits and weaknesses to his advantage, and he was able to come up with a plan that allowed him and his men to escape. This plan also shows Odysseus' bravery and resourcefulness in the face of danger.
